A YouTuber named Samcrac shared his experience buying two used Teslas and issued a warning to anyone considering buying these second-hand vehicles.

He bought a first-generation Tesla Model S for $11,000 at an auction, and although it seemed like a great deal, he faced several problems.

During the eight months he owned the car, it broke down multiple times, requiring repairs like replacing the battery fuse, control arms, and other components. Although he was able to fix some things himself, he needed Tesla’s help for more complex repairs, which were time-consuming and expensive.

Later, he bought another used Tesla, a Model S Plaid, and faced similar issues, with the vehicle breaking down frequently and requiring high maintenance costs.

When comparing the two cars, he referred to them as “money pits” since the accumulated repair costs eventually exceeded the original amount he paid. He pointed out that for those who can’t perform repairs themselves, a used Tesla can end up being more expensive than expected.

Despite the challenges, Samcrac still considers Teslas to be great vehicles, as long as the buyer is prepared to deal with frequent maintenance and avoid serious issues like battery or drivetrain problems.

He recommends caution for anyone thinking of purchasing these used cars, especially for those who rely on professionals for repairs.
